Phone patch interview with Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte on Friday, August 9, 2013

Q&A:

Q: Ma’am can we get your reaction — first si Ina po ito sa Solar — doon sa…

USEC. VALTE: Ina, yes?

Q: Reaction sa…by Taiwan —

USEC. VALTE: Sorry, the what?

Q: The lifting of Taiwan sanctions?

USEC. VALTE: Oh. Okay, sorry I couldn’t hear you very well. Well, hopefully… We did get word that they are lifting sanctions–the ones that they levied because of the incident. But then, you know, hopefully, this recent development will contribute to the resolution of the issue and then we’ll return relations to normal.

Radio Interview with Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte on Sunday, August 4, 2013

OPENING STATEMENT

USEC. VALTE: Magandang hapon po at saka sa mga nakikinig po sa atin mula naman po diyan sa Sunday group ng Malacañang Press Corps and, of course, doon sa mga Sunday habit listeners po natin sa Radyo ng Bayan.

Before I take your questions, we have a little bit of good news to share. First, of course, everybody knows this that Palawan has ranked number one as the best island for international travelers based on a recent survey conducted by New York-based Travel + Leisure magazine; and, of course, Boracay is the second.

After that, the Aquino administration has earmarked 20-billion pesos for infrastructure and marketing projects to help the country achieve its target of 6.8 million tourist arrivals next year.

And, after that—you may have already heard about this—the administration has released P250-million for the redevelopment of Roxas Boulevard. So the P250-million will be for the repair and rehabilitation, as you know, we will be hosting major events in 2014 and 2015

So hindi lang naman po particularly, in the case of APEC in 2015, that will not be a singular event. It will be year-long. There will be ministerial meetings held at least once a month, beginning December 2014, all the way to the conclusion for the AELM or the Leaders’ Summit.

Press Briefing with Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte on Tuesday, July 9 2013

OPENING STATEMENT

USEC. VALTE: I have a statement on documenting the journey of the BRP Ramon Alacaraz:

Last week, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sent three Philippine Navy officers to the United States to join the crew of the BRP Ramon Alcaraz and document its journey from San Diego to the Philippines. The team is composed of Commander Gilbert O. Pacio, Navy Lieutenant Marineth Riano Domingo, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Errol N. dela Cruz who are all Public Affairs officers.

As part of this project—in partnership with the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO)—they will share, through blogs and social media, their experiences aboard the newest ship of the Philippine fleet. Their articles will be uploaded through a live blog on the official website of the Philippine Navy (http://www.navy.mil.ph/alcaraz/) and the blog of Lt. Jg. dela Cruz (http://allaboutedelacruz.com/), one of the officers recording the journey. Aside from the blogs, people may follow the official Twitter accounts of the BRP Alcaraz (@BRPRamonAlcaraz), Philippine Navy (@PN_Speak), the AFP (@TeamAFP), and the account of Lt. dela Cruz (@erroldelacruz). Updates on the BRP Alcaraz may also be read through the official Facebook pages of the AFP (www.facebook.com/armedforcesofthephilippines), the Navy (www.facebook.com/philippinenavy), and the Facebook account of the ship (www.facebook.com/pages/PF-16-Ramon-Alcaraz/533450743369095). The Official Gazette’s Twitter (@govph) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/govph) will likewise share onboard updates on Alcaraz.

We encourage everyone to follow the updates on the BRP Alcaraz—the first of the Navy’s ships to be named in honor of a Philippine Naval officer—and learn about the life and experiences of the members of the Philippine Navy.

That is the end of the statement. Additionally, the Alcaraz started its journey home July 7 in San Diego and will eventually dock after a month here in the country. Do we have any questions on this?
